Raz’s Test Space For Video/Audio Recordings

The below video and audio were recorded simultaneously on the stream computer.

No changes were made in OBS to the way videos are recorded.

Audacity was launched as a second program, the input set to mono, and the gain reduced so that it recorded without clipping.

These are the outputs:

Note: I was standing in the booth, but this is an actual video.

The video will automatically save to the NAS at Media > Sermon Recordings > Video

The audio will automatically save to the NAS at Media > Sermon Recordings > Audio

Audio chain will be:

  1. Board

  2. Scarlett (gain knob on front)

    • Signal Chain Forks

      • 1. OBS (VIDEO) - audio recording level on fader at bottom of screen.

      • 2. Audacity - audio recording level on fader at top/right of menu.

My recommendation would be that the video recording stay unchanged:

  1. Start STREAM at the beginning of the service (10-15 mins on countdown), End STREAM after closing announcements,

  2. Start VIDEO RECORDING as pastor walks up for sermon, end after prayer at end of sermon.

My recommendation for the audio would be to begin at the same time as the stream:

  1. Begin audacity recording at 10-15 mins on countdown

  2. End audacity recording at end of closing announcements.

The audio recording in audacity is very easy to trip, so at the end of each week, either the producer or the sound volunteer will need to trim the Audacity recording so begin at the start of the sermon and end at the end of the sermon. This will simply mean cutting off the first ~30 min, and the last 10-15 mins of the track, then exporting the remaining file as an MP3 to the NAS.

From there, Zach should be able to upload the Video from the NAS to Youtube, and the Audio from the NAS to Squarespace.
